I used to sell BPwin and it is good if you want to use the IDEF notation. The activity diagram in Rose can be used to replace the DFD. The flow diagram can also be shown with an activity diagram. I would start with the UML notation and develop your models with that notation to keep consistency. If you find that you need more depth in your process models, you can seek out another more granular tool, but I would not recommend BPwin.
The main advantage is that the models in Rose can communicate to porvide a design link. The BPwin models are supposed to be able to hook to ERwin data models but nothing else (this was never done to a clear point of usefullness with any customers that I knew of). It is a difficult process to get them to go thru to the object model. 2 cents, Sam Sam Courtney Rational Software Software Engineering Specialist Dallas, TX Office: 972-492-5753 Tech Support: 1-800-433-5444 [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Upcoming Webinars: http://www.rational.com/events/webinars/search.jsp -----Original Message----- From: Analyst is [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2002 11:05 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: (RUP) Rational tool vs BP Win???
