Personally, I think Use Cases are over-sold, but find out about what they can do for you before entering into that argument ;-) I favour capturing requirements in 3 distinct groups, each in a different fashion. Use Cases for capturing how the Users want to interact with the system, Business Rules or direct input into the Domain Model for capturing the detailed behaviour of the system, and Supplementary Specification for capturing the Non-Functional/Technical/ Quality requirements. Others disagree.
