Well, in these turbulent times, many of us in this forum are changing
jobs.  I'm sure that some of those people find it useful to have a
permanent presence on the Net that doesn't depend on the email addresses
supplied by their employers.  Services such as Hotmail provide a convenient
means to do that, without requiring people to disclose their "real" home
addresses.  I can see some real advantages to that.
