I don't see that much perceptible apperance of the segments being on different 
planes, but I can still clearly tell what's selected, and what's not, so 
that's not a big deal.

It looks like a workable interface to me, but I can't tell much from looking 
at it, and wouldn't mind playing with it directly.

From a user perspective, this looks to be very cool, and potentially quite 
convenient.  There have been times when I really wanted such a beast.

From a coder perspective, if you want a code review, you're going to have to 
wait until one of the big guys gets back, because I'm way too clueless to 
have a substantive opinion.  I'm at the stage where if anything actually 
works at all, it's a miracle.  :)

Anyway, based on the way I've seen things going here, I think there's a better 
than average chance that they would tell you not to bother them with a patch, 
and to just commit it, with the expectation that you'll hang around and deal 
with their eventual complaints about picky things you didn't do quite right.
