Hmm, interesting.  You've installed presumably otherwise the gui wouldn't run
up at all.  Have you got JACK running?

Well, you see I've been (up until now) making sure we still compile for KDE3.0
so I've been on SuSE 8.0 - which is lovely but a bit behind the times now.
I've just this afternoon upgraded on the laptop to RH9.0 to give it a lash.
Actually mainly hoping that the power saving is a bit more subtle (i.e. works)
on this laptop - otherwise the fan is on all the time and it's a real noisy 
PITA.

RH9.0 looks pretty anyway.
