There's one thing I've noticed when recording midi (I do it that way and other musicians I know):
People usually record their ideas as melodical-themes (main musical theme) with sometimes adding other notes (harmony)just to define their ideas. Main melody is often in bass and treble and it would be great if rg could split recorded not only by predefined "split pitch" , but "at the given time"-pitch. Not sure how clear I am... so here is the example:
all notes are in the same octave,
time signature 4/4,
asscending phrase of notes G,A,H,C (1/4) and
pedal harmony C,E (whole note)

Originally recorded:

                    |
               | C2
            | H
I | A
         G
        (E)
        (C)

to end up like two staves:
             |
        | C2
I | H
  | A
  G

and

II

        (E)
        (C)

in two staves! The same for bass!
