Precisely. Plus it also lets us switch to an MVC pattern, rather than the
Event->ViewElement scheme we have right now and which is a chore to get
right.

Not very closely, it's too far away in the future to be of any relevance right
now (count one year before KDE4, then another year at least before KDE3's
installed base gets shrunk enough).
