Is that because you delete your rosegarden directories after installation ?
Have you got enough empty disk space to keep both the
rosegarden-4.0.9.91rc3 and rosegarden-4-1.0rc1 source trees compiled ?
If you do, then it should be possible to "make install" in less than 1 minute
from each source tree.
The actual checksum should take only a few seconds at most.

Because it enables me to compare very quickly the files you actually have
installed in $KDEDIR, as opposed to the files that should have been installed,
with mine very quickly.
I want to rule out differences in the installed files as a possible cause.

My mistake. I meant "after installing 1.0rc1 and after installing 0.9.91rc3"
