I lied, I did find time & have committed that. Appears to work in my first naive test with one track & one device... haven't tested further yet. Seems I also lied about renaming ports not working -- I think it's just that qjackctl doesn't notice if a port is renamed. I wonder whether that means ALSA doesn't send out a system message in that case, or whether qjackctl doesn't pick up on it?
