I just wanted to let everyone know that I sat down to do something about the obnoxious audio file management issues that have been pissing me off for awhile now. (To wit, my 2 GB ~/rosegarden directory that I have no reasonable way to make any sense of, and various project-specific directories that are full of good files and bad alike.)
I don't have the time to actually build the code I just wrote just yet, and I'm going to leave it sitting until I'm on the far side of all this book stuff, and can go back to playing with HEAD. I just wanted to get it down while I was thinking about it. I thought I'd make my intentions known in case anyone gets a wild hare up his ass to tinker with this in the next couple of weeks. I posted some design discussion thing awhile back, which was ignored completely, so I'm just going to go do what I think it needs, commit it, and see how it flies. I'm probably going to mangle the SPB/IPB and some other things too, as per another design discussion thing that was ignored completely. It's just too damn big, and we need to tighten it up and make more room for the segment canvas. Maybe I can dick with this in another branch and get opinions before merging it into HEAD. It's going to be a pretty sweeping change visually, but I feel like it really needs to be done. The segment canvas doesn't even get half of my screen, and 1024x768 is still a lot more common than any other resolution. In fact, I think that's just what should be done. I'll make a branch (can I actually make a branch? I guess so...) and then dick around with different ideas for ways to tighten everything up without making it all look like complete crap. (Blender as an example of something that looks like complete crap. 400 little meaningless icons, and no idea WTF any of them do.) I have at least two major streams of thought to play with, and I won't really know what it looks like until I see it in the flesh. I ultimately want to get everything to the left of the actual segment canvas itself down to no more than 1/3 of a 1024x768 screen, instead of about 56% of it. -- Michael McIntyre ---- Silvan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux fanatic, and certified Geek; registered Linux user #243621 http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/ http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Oracle Space Sweepstakes Want to be the first software developer in space?
