Vlada and I have been having a serious discussion about switching over many/most/all of our icons to PNG. Most especially the notation editor icons, but many others could benefit from real transparency and proper antialiasing too.
Looking in /usr/share, PNG icons outnumber XPM icons about 13:1, and of the 2,000-odd XPM icons on my system, slightly more than half of them belong to Rosegarden itself. I'm assuming we use XPMs for mostly historical reasons, and that we have continued to do so for so long owing primarily to the monumentally tedious nature of switching them out. Anyway, we're willing to do the drudge work here, and I intend to switch out (although not change stylistically in most cases) most or all of the icons in the course of fiddling on the GUI revamp branch I'm working on, and then merge everything on into HEAD in due course. I just figured I should put notice of this intention out there in case there's some stodgy conservative objection which needs to be raised first. It would be a pity to do all this work and then have it shot down. -- Michael McIntyre ---- Silvan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux fanatic, and certified Geek; registered Linux user #243621 http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/ http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Oracle Space Sweepstakes Want to be the first software developer in space?
