CVS HEAD now has support for true multitrack audio recording. Let me try to summarise the user-visible changes and the things that aren't done yet or that I'm not sure about. I'm not going into reasons or explanations here, so if something strikes you as odd, go ahead and ask about it.
* You can now arm any number of audio tracks at once. You can only arm one track on a given audio instrument, though. * The default autoload has only a single stereo audio input (I should perhaps change that), so all the tracks you record on will all record the same thing until you create and assign some more inputs. Oh, the fun you can have arming 16 audio tracks and recording 16 lots of the same thing at once, handily consuming disc space 16 times as fast. * You can still only arm one MIDI track at a time. * Audio and MIDI tracks now have different colours for the record buttons (the MIDI ones are yellow) because they have different arming behaviour. A side-effect is that the two sorts of track now look slightly different even when not armed. * The above are not properly updated when you change a track from MIDI to audio or back again yet. * Recording segment outlines on the canvas aren't working properly -- I'm not sure whether this is down to me or the new canvas, probably something I did broke recording segments in the new canvas. They are supposed to work -- the code is there -- they just don't. This is my highest priority fix. * The audio mixer now shows monitoring levels for all armed audio tracks (on a narrower meter inside the instrument's main meter). * Recorded audio files have a more complex generated filename with the date and time in it. * The outstanding bug that was causing audio tracks to sometimes forget which audio files they were associated with after a file reload should be fixed. * You now get a dialog as soon as you arm an audio track for recording if the audio file path is not valid. The dialog has a button that takes you straight to the configure page for setting the audio file path. Bet I've forgotten something important...
