HEAD will become the wild, feckless development branch, at least for the time 
being, and the experiments branch will be treated as a failed experiment and 
dropped.  At least if we go ahead this way -- it's only a suggestion.

I wondered whether it would be better to do supposedly-stable work in HEAD 
(for bugfix releases and the like) so as to increase the likelihood that 
people would actually test it, but I find Silvan's argument that hardly 
anyone (except us) would test anything from CVS at all -- so there's not much 
benefit in making the "stable" branch as easy as possible to get to -- fairly 
persuasive.
