I didn't notice how this changed in the non-tabbed view. So the idea was to
get the SPB to the top. I think even in that case I would put the TPB at the
top. Then the IPB at the bottom, definitely. That just seems right. So the
SPB in the middle.
Which is completely different from what I proposed earlier, or either of the
two suggestions you made toward the bottom of the message I'm quoting.

I'm not proposing to change the order of the panels. I think this is probably
just right. I still use the old fashioned way to assign an instrument to a
track, but it's nice having the track's instrument choice visible at the top.
Of course I'm looking at it with the TPB on its own tab, for now, because I
have to. With the IPB there, I suppose I'd know what instrument by looking
at that too.
Actually, that's an interesting point. Looking at it in stacked mode now,
I've got the same information in two places.
TPB:
Device: [ blah ]
Instrument [ #1 ]
IPB:
blah #1
That's an opportunity to save some room.

It's an arduous business, isn't it? :)

OK, Chris hates scrollbars. You and I don't really like them, but could live
with them.
