I have some kind of feature request to this effect, where I talked about "segment symlinks" or something to that effect. I point this out as an example of common thinking, and another thing that could be done in the same general direction, not as any kind of solution or proposition per se, and certainly not an announcement of my intent to accomplish something codewise. -- D.
