I hate to waste the effort on that, but we should have released it while the 
iron was still hot.  I would have already.  I need to learn how to do 
releases.

Given the near total vacuum around here now, I think it's time to focus on 
getting 1.7.0 out the door instead.  It represents a hell of a lot of new 
work, and I'm getting tired of watching it rot while everyone plays 
Tiddlywinks.

So let's officially call a string freeze, effective immediately, since nobody 
has any string changes in progress right now anyway.  (We should probably 
update the Handbook before doing this, but since the Handbook is not 
well-translated anyway, and since many users read the online version, I don't 
see holding up a release over documentation.  Especially considering our 
pitiful track record in this area under far better circumstances than those 
we face today.)

I guess the next step is to update the translation stuff.  I'll post another 
message directly.
