Thank you for the input.
I am still at Ubuntu 7.10 all of my systems--three of them. I plan on moving
to 8.10 or maybe just wait until an 9.x release. I don't have a real
compelling reasons to upgrade.
I will just make the change to the qt4-makefile as you suggested.
