I think I can live with it. Inserting notes with keyboard selects insert
mode anyway. But maybe it could be better when leaving
insert mode previously selected duration would be deselected, but stored
somewhere. No duration button would be "on".
Next time entering insert mode would select the previous duration. Is it
even possible?
The Question:

Hopefully, but again I can live with it. If we set an accidental, there is
no point to insert rest though.
