Nice idea, but it's not likely to be simple in cases where the thing in the ruler is not an event (e.g. velocity). Not that I have any idea whether Chris intended to implement cut/paste and selection semantics for velocity. I've only had the briefest of looks at the latest rulers, I'm afraid -- the pitch bend ruler did look very nice. My only problem with it is that the "grab hand" cursor it used while click-dragging rather obscured the point and explanatory tooltip.
