Instead of merging tracks with the same name, just put all the segments on the same track. With expanding-height tracks, and the new "add layer" functionality providing a quick shortcut to creating a new overlapping segment where you sit, it just makes a lot more sense to work this way. The old "merge track with same name" thing was a hack built at a time when working with overlapping segments on the same track was impractical. -- D.
