I'm agreeing with this line of thought--leaving triggered segments as we know 
them.

Sym-links...as I re-proposed in my last post would have its source on the track 
canvas and RG's global time would apply to it.

If the user wishes to put a sym-link segment that is one measure of 4/4 in the 
composition that the meter is 7/8, that should be there right.  Users can do 
this kind of thing already with regular segments.

I see no conflict.  I think the notation editor will barf of on any notes whose 
duration would cross the measure line, but the matrix editor would be fine, I 
believe.
