That is serious, and odd. Again none of the screenshots are like what I see.
There's no particular relation between the insert controllers code and the
notation display code. There's nothing that should make the notation
display turn off staff lines. It just inserts or removes events normally.
All the hairy business is about calculating what to insert or delete.
None of the bugs I fixed while developing it resembled this or affected
the display. I've wracked my brain trying to think of some subtle
connection, but I don't see any.
Long shot: What do other dialogs do to notation and matrix editors?
