True, true.  I always run a debug build, but I forget how things are for 
the normal people.

Plus I have even more sheets in the wind now than I did when I wrote 
earlier.

Since you put it that way, I'll just hand this off to you instead of 
working it out then.

1. create segment
2. right click -> Transpose by Interval

KAFLOOEY!

Something about QPainter not active.  I bet we have a bunch of these, 
and the pattern for this fix will apply to a dozen other places.
