I've just recreated the workaround with current SVN. Commented out lines
1519-1602 in AlsaDriver.cpp, fully deactivating setCurrentTimer(). Here in
openSUSE leap 15, the default ALSA timer is the HRTIMER, so Rosegarden is
running here with the HRTIMER without freezing the system.
I've just pushed r15465 to svn which has Pedro's recommended fix as a
.conf file option. Build and run once and then you will find in your
Rosegarden.conf file:
[ALSA]
SkipSetCurrentTimer=false
Change this to "true", restart rg, and test for tempo variations.
Let me know how you all fare and I'll dig further if needed.
