As of 10.02, Rosegarden no longer has conditional build options to turn off 
assorted libraries.  We support JACK, ALSA, LIRC, DSSI, etc., so you have to 
have all of that stuff installed to build Rosegarden.

We did this because it simplifies support enormously if everyone builds the 
same code, without all the conditional build nonsense.  We've had bugs that 
would manifest if the #ifdef went one way, but not if it went the other way, 
and these issues caused us a lot of headaches.

We don't require anything that's difficult to obtain, so we don't feel this is 
an undue burden.

I have no idea if LIRC could be behind any of these problems, but that could 
indeed be a clue.
