I agree entirely.
The program (and bank) names should not be translated. This would be an
impossible task for any translator.
It would always be possible to provide a language specific rgd file if
necessary.

As far as I know, the recently released Yamaha PSR-SX920 and SX720 have
program names translated into Chinese. Previous models of Yamaha PSR series
also have program names translated into Japanese (in a useless katakana way).
They have multiple UI languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc.), but
program names are untranslated in languages other than Japanese.
If there was sufficient demand, I suppose it could be an option in
preferences....?

I personally would like to leave the program names untranslated, because the
translated names will sound weird most of the time, and some names are hard to
translate (especially synthesized voices, e.g. AnaDayz). If translation of
program names is demanded, then maintaining a separate context is necessary,
because nothing could prevent the imagination of manufacturers. I think
Revert, Undo, Paste, Transport, Rulers, Jog Right are all possible names for
some strange synthesized voices.
Another problem is that the same program name might have different meanings in
different instruments. For example, VoxHumana could refer to the voice of
either an organ (the most common meaning) or a synthesized choir (as in my old
Yamaha KB-320). I think the best way is to maintain separate translation for
separate .rgd files instead of relying on built-in i18n tools.
