Hi Ted,

I made a quick video of RG 24.12.1 (release) (up to about minute 1:00) vs. compiled git (rest of video)

https://peertube.uno/w/pkfVK6uSnaDsbRbWVNzNtb

Hopefully it should show visually what I'm talking about.

It might be useful to specify that I'm on Manjaro (Arch derivative) where everything (compilers, libraries, etc.) is always quite 'recent', ant this may sometimes impact compiling stuff.. (a shot in the dark but worth to mention).

See also inline.

Odd.  I can't make this happen.  I switch to the pointer tool (F2) and double-click a note and I get the event edit dialog.

If I double-click a note with the Draw tool (F3) it gets deleted. That's been the case since at least 22.12.1.

Are you sure you are double-clicking with the Select and Edit (F2) tool?

Actually in the git compiled version the note seems to 'jump" in pitch when double clicked. Initially I interpreted this as deleting the note because I was too zoomed in, hopefully you can see this in the video...

A caveat still present in the dialog in 24.12.1 is that the dialog in my case still shows.

In the notation editor I can double-click a note and get a dialog.

  Also working for me.

In this latest git I also get a weird behaviour: if in the matrix editor I have notes and I switch to select note, clicking and keeping the mouse pressed to 'grab' a note I get a sort of yellow 'cross' and I cna't really move them around, sometimes they 'jump' to a random location sometimes they get deleted.

The yellow cross shows the horizontal/vertical "channels" you can move the note along before you get an unrestrained move on both axes. Once you pull the note diagonally outside of the cross you are in free-move mode and should be able to move the note anywhere.

Try just moving a note vertically.  Is that smooth and predictable? Then try moving a note horizontally.  Is that smooth and predictable? Finally, try dragging a note outside the cross. The cross should then disappear and you should be able to drag the note freely anywhere you want.

Unless I'm missing something about the behaviour I don't think I'm getting this... is the yellow 'cross' meant to only fill up the current quantized column vertically and the note horizontally?

It seems rather erratic and unpredictable in this version. again I hope you can see what I mean in the video.

BTW. Am I dreaming or was it once possible to 'grab and move' a note in draw mode by clicking on an already existing note?

I just tested 24.12.1 and it is not possible.  I do not remember us having such a feature.  You always need to switch to the pointer tool (F2) in order to grab and move things.  The move tool (F5) works for this as well.

Now if I hover an existing note in draw mode I get the green 'pointer' for the position.

I went back to 22.12.1 which was before the green pointer was added. That version did not allow grab and drag with the Draw (F3) tool. Hovering just shows nothing at all.

Well I was indeed dreaming @^_^@ (or maybe mixing with a feature request I intended to make, and never got up to...), so ignore this last one please ;-)

Lorenzo
