Don't know if I am brave or stupid, but I am game. To quote
Jeremey Clarkson, how hard can it be? ;)
If you are new to the process (as I am ;)), I am sure we can both
learn to do the right things and get involved in that part of the
process...
So, what is currently in
https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog-pkg-ubuntu? Right now, one would
download the source from rsyslog.com and then add the files from the
github? Trying to make sure I understand what is where right now; it is
Monday you know. :)
Right now you would need to setup a build environment with pbuilder-dist
(ubuntu-dev-tools package). Are you familiar with these tools?
A good start would can be found here:
http://packaging.ubuntu.com/singlehtml/index.html#document-ubuntu-packagin
g-guide/getting-set-up
You can setup virtual Ubuntu building environments. Currently I have
virtual environments for Precise (AMD/I386) and Saucy (AMD/I386).
just a note that we may want to setup 64 bit versions. I suspect that high
performance users will notice the difference.

I would recommend to create a dedicated user for packaging and put the git
content https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog-pkg-ubuntu into the users home
directory.
This is how I am working right now.
Let me know when you have the build environment setup, then I guide you
through the next steps ;)
Best regards,
