I examined every .pm and .so file in all of the @INC directory trees and removed any file which was not owned by a current RPM package. After that, "make install" stopped complaining about a missing UUID but did complain that the installed version of Locale::Maketext::Fuzzy was not sufficiently recent. So I had to install that one module via CPAN. Then "make install" did it's job without complaint. So now I have what should be a working RT. But no...
