Stall on RTI big draw in
World Book Fair in Delhi

Right to Information is the flavour of the season and a stall displaying books,
CDs and manuals on the RTI Act is attracting many visitors in the 18th New
Delhi World Book Fair 2008.
The stall organisers are also
offering their assistance and advice to the queries of the visitors about the
Act.
The organisers are happy with
the initial response of the people, many of whom are seeking to understand the
process of filing RTI application and obtaining information.
"Our basic purpose is to
reach out to the people through the platform of book fair and spread awareness
about the Act," said Manish Sisodia of 'Kabir', an NGO working in the field
of RTI promotion which has set up the stall.
"So far, the response of
the people in the first two days has been great. They are coming to us with
their questions and problems and we are trying to assist them."
RTI activist and Magsaysay
awardee Arvind Kejriwal said, "It will be a great help to the people who
want to know about the nitty-gritties of the Act."
Central Information
Commissioner M M Ansari will release a CD on RTI by Kejriwal tomorrow. The CD
deals with the provisions of RTI law and its use, explained in a easy format.
"The tutorial CD is a
complete training kit containing our experiences of over 100 workshops, the
philosophy of RTI and the law," Kejriwal said.
