Dear Group This is a MODERATOR intervention
Frankly when I started this thread on our RTI group, I had no idea how bad the Munbai situation was or how this powerfully issue would resonate with so many Indians across so many channels - as exemplified by the number of posts on this subject. There have been some side-effects to this, however. 1) People have started logging off the group - including a few valued veterans. 2) Yahoo has begun profiling our group as a Spam group. Mails from this group are being dumped into SPAM folders, incoming mails are being increasingly marked as "Possible Spam" and await Moderator approval before being posted. We view this very seriously. 3) The number of posts this month from our group at about 340 is the highest of all the Yahoo RTI groups - and that is not a good thing. The Mumbai situation has demonstrated that our members "care" and that they want to "do something about it". The avowed common purpose of this group is RTI. If we can use RTI to create a difference, lets discuss how while being ON TOPIC. More signal less noise. PS: One of our veteran members paraphrased Nana Patekar's dialogue to me while leaving the group - "Ek machcar saala aadmi ko hijra bana deta hai" asking me to remind everyone that malaria (and TB) kills more Indians every year than all the terrorists (and Barkha Dutt) combined.
