Just in case this isn't already planned... I'd like to bring up the idea
with the RT Linux project coordinators to submit the RTL kernel patches
into the Linux kernel core after the experimental 2.3 branch is created.
Over the next year to 18 months, undoubtedly we can expect RTL to continue
to grow so it's worthwhile to try to get a permanent place in the kernel,
even if it's #ifdef'ed out for most configurations.
(For those who are new, Linux release numbers use an even number after the
decimal for a stable (made for CDs) release and an odd number for the
development branch used to make the next stable release. That's why 2.1.132
turned into the 2.2 pre-release series. 2.3 will be the next development
branch after 2.2.0 is officially released.)
