If you have contacts with GODS (Linus) why don't you tell him to have a
look at RTAI at the LinuxLabProject and tell the boss also that there is
no need to ifdef nothing to get hard real time working, both UP and SMP,
with a lot of services. They are already there and a some new bells and
wistles are coming soon.
Just change the kernel design a little, the idea is already implemented,
and hard real time can be appended in the form of real time application
modules. No need to do almost anything in the new 2.3.xx and an easy
porting to any platform.
It is beta but does a lot already.
