Could you please qualify this.  What are the advantages/disadvantages of a
large monolithic-kernel versus a small micro-kernel.  I am not an operating
system expert but the concept of a micro-kernel or pico-kernel seems very
sensible to me.  It's elegent and easier to maintain, therefore it should be
more reliable.  I REALLY like the way that the drivers act like user apps, but
I guess there might be some kind of performance penalties.  I guess linux
modules are similar but I do not know the subtle differences.
