Also 
look at the python ( or Perl ) interfaces to tcl/tk.
Under Python it is called Tkinter.

I like tk but I try ti keep the number of different languages I use
down.
The python interface is nice.

The zentropix Debug tools use perl/tk and they are free to use / look
at.
