So, let's take this chance and reorganise some things. Here is the structure I would like to propose (only directories and modules are listed):
add-ons/
What about 'addons'? RTAI-3.x has rtai-addons saves 1 character :)
Ack.
examples/
I'll begin with examples reorganisation after this mail...looks good
>> examples/ >> round_trip_time >> client/ >> rt_client.ko >> >> linux-client/ >> linux-client (executeable) >> >> server/ >> rt_server.ko > > What about a extra-dir for the linux-client?
Ok, sounds reasonable.
>>add-ons/ >> examples/ >> rtmac/ >> event/ >> handler/ >> rt_handler.ko > > rt_event.c > >> collector/ >> rt_collector.ko > > rt_show_events.c > > Who is handler, who collector? Is this mapping correct?
You mapped it as I intended it (but didn't explain).
rtcap/ rtnetproxy/
core/ rtnet.ko ipv4/ rtipv4.ko packet/ rtpacket.ko
Is ipv4.ko and packet.ko already hotplugable (i.e. seperately loadable)? If not, it makes no sense to build seperate modules ATM, makes it?
Correct, it is not yet pluggable but it will become. As this may be defered on the next but one release, we will first have to handle both as libraries of rtnet.ko.
rtcfg/ rtcfg.ko rtmac/ rtmac.ko nomac/ nomac.ko tdma/ tdma.ko
How do you think about a version number in tdma? Like -1.0 or -v1? To prevent confusion with the new tdma incarnation.
I thought of kicking v1 out of the tree on the long term. Maybe we should move the current version to tdma-v1 while hacking on v2.
drivers/
I've just comitted the new drivers layout to CVS errr... SVN Works (compiles) here....
Nice. I still need to prepare my system for a RTAI 2.6 build...
