Just tried to run RTnet with a twisted-pair-kabel, and with the same
configuration with wich it runs over a switch - master and slave won't find
each other.
The kabel is ok - "normal" ethernet works.

Any Ideas?

Maybe some race we didn't discovered yet (your machines might be too fast...). However, it's still a bit strange as many tests have been performed between two cross-connected stations.

First you should try to find out where your problem is: RTcfg or RTmac/TDMA. RTcfg has built-in debug support for its state machine (configure --enable-rtcfg-dbg), TDMA might require some additional rtos_prints. You could also capture the traffic between master and slave using RTcap and tcpdump or Ethereal (on both stations to check what is actually received). Send me the dump privately if you discover something unusual - but I will likely not be able to reply before Thursday.
