The reason for the MAC OS screen shots on RoR (Ruby on Rails) is that
the entire development team
members for RoR are MAC users. Not a problem doing anything on
Windows. I now use
Netbeans (NB) for all my Ruby and RoR development. I suggest for first
time Window users
do a NB 6.5.1 (full package) clean install including the NB Java JDK.
Everything should be
correctly handled and pointed. As you get more comfortable with NB and
RoR, you can then
tweak around with other installs, Gems, etc. Ruby and RoR are not
difficult, just a bit different
until you get used to its environment. NB really makes it more
manageable, IMHO. Finally,
the netbeans.org site has tutorials and articles on getting Ruby
support via NB in Windows;
look under the "Docs & Support" tab on the home page and follow the
"Ruby Applications"
learning trails link under "Learning Trails" section. Good luck.
