re CVS at Sf.net.... since I always use SSH on my own projects I tend
not to have the problem, but it has been more than problematic for us
too.
I am considering migrating to SVN, too.
Good things for it so far:
- you can rsync with another SVN (as I heard, I did not try it), but it
is only outgoing, meaning that SF.net has to be the master.

- commits made are seen immediately by anonymous viewers ... yeeha! I
tested that with my buddies from RSSOWL who switched to SVN @ sf.net
- Subclipse has come a long way and is very usable nowadays.

The only small issue is that it is slower than CVS, but still
acceptable.
Another issue is that there is no Eclipse releng support for it, which
would require custom build script based on PDE build instead of releng. 

So if I have say, I would say to go for it!
