I've been playing with Ferret for awhile. I actually get corrupted indexes just running in development. I'm close to deploying an app that uses ferret and some of the things I've heard really worry me. Haven't had a chance to test the drb server though, but the whole idea of that bothers me too.
How difficult would it be to change over to Sphinx?
