Thanks for asking the question I've spent months trying to answer, and, 
since I noticed it's a difficult one, to avoid ;)

Some adhoc-envisaging: rumprun-posix is essentially the current 
buildrump.sh package, plus more.  Since I don't imagine there's much 
demand for rumprun-posix minus more, rumprun-posix would replace the 
buildrump.sh package.

The rumprun-foo packages would also come with an optional 
rumprun-foo-drvdev add-on, which would install a toolchain and kernel 
sources necessary for building the drv repos.

Against that sudden illumination, maybe it's better to include the 
platform name in the drv repos?  e.g. drv-posix-netif-netmap.  Or is 
that getting too bureaucratized?
