Alas, there isn't one, despite my best efforts, this is a real problem for rxvt-unicode -- since I can well envisage more and more people "complaining" about this here, when frankly it is looking like an Xorg bug more and more. For now, I will have to do away with the popup menu for rxvt-unicode and rely on setting everything via Xdefaults beforehand. At least until this problem resolves itself.
