Hello to all,
I'm very happy with urxvt, except one issue, where I'm not able to find the
reason nor a workaround. Maybe somebody here can help.
What I experience is, that from time to time when I close a tab in the tabbed
extension (or tabbedex) the whole urxvt freezes, so no keystroke is arriving
the shell (bash or zsh).
I can click still on the tabs, but I can not type in them anymore. I have to
kill the whole urxvt with xkill.
"ctrl-c" in the calling shell, where I opened the urxvt is also not working
anymore. A normal kill (TERM signal) also doesn't work. It needs a
"KILL-signal".
The best way I found to reproduce this problem is the following:
$ xset r rate 200 100
(without this it happens quite rarely)
Then open a new urxvt (with tabbed extension enabled [I also tried to
disable *all* other extensions]) and
press "shift + cursor_down" once or twice for short periods, then quite some
tabs are opened.
If this doesn't crash it, then close them again by pressing and holding "ctrl-d".
If this doesn't crash it, stop closing the last tab (not to close the whole
urxvt)
and open again 10-20 tabs. If I do this once or twice urxvt freezes!
I have this problem since a year on different computers, different releases of
urxvt and also with v9.20.
Can you reproduce the problem?
Any idea what I can do to avoid this problem?
As you can imagine following Murphy's law it happens always when it really has
some impact ... forcing to kill all tabs is sometimes really a big problem for
productivity :-(
Thanks a lot,
Michael
