I am probably more a hirailer, but have built S scale car and building kits
and run some equipment with Kadee 802's, so I'll respond.

Subject: [S-Scale Modeling] Recommending a survey

> (1) Do you actually have a layout, or do you just model in S scale?
Have a layout
> (2) If you do run your scale models on a layout, [yours or anybody's] are
they exactly prototypically made to scale with all the detail, including
underbodies?
No. Brake cylinders and valves are there but piping is usually not.
> (3) Do you attempt to run scale models as true to scale as best you can?
Yes
> (4) Are there models on your layout that are true to scale, but not
finished.
> Like the underbodies are not completely finished, and so on?
Yes
> (5) Do you have any un-scale models running on your layout?
Yes
> (6) Are you serious when you say that a SHS or AM model is off from the
prototype 1/10 of a foot, or that the slope is off a fraction, or that the
markings are wrong, or it has the wrong headlights for the model SHS-AM and
others are re-creating?
No. I run AM code 148 track and that satisfies me. If I started today I
would prefer code 125.
> (7) Are you having fun?
You betcha- freely mixing flyer, scale and anachronisms.
