Hi Group. Couple of things. I received a mid 60's issue of the old Railroad Magazine - before they merged with Railfan - and it had a picture of a foreign steam engine taken by Don Heimberger. Somewhere in Tolono, I believe it said, wherever that is. I also got a new issue of Extra 2200 South, the magazine that updates info on engines. As I was reading about the various railroads, I noticed something. There are a lot of SD-40's, GP 38's, GP 35's, and Alco's still out there and running around. Mostly on shortlines, but even power short Class 1's are running them. There is a shortline somewhere that is making an all GP 35 roster. They are even converting Amtrak F40's to GP 38's. They didn't explain how, but had pictures of the before and after. For those who want to know what engines can run with what, I suggest you pick up a few issues of Extra 2200 South. Barry.
