On the RRs I worked for there was no such thing as a pass. There was a 
meet when two trains from two directions would meet. One would take a 
siding and the other one would go by. Then there was the run around. 
Two trains same direction. The first one would take a siding and the 
other one would run around him. But in both examples you would use a 
passing track.
