Scott & List, Having sat as the NASG chair to the 1993 NASG/NMRA for almost 3 years before the convention, I have a different take then most. I have seen first hand the "HO is King" attitude from the NMRA members, many of which were hierarchy. It was severely annoying to me. So the NMRA will never see any of my money.
For Scott Perry - you likened the NASG to the NMRA in a negative way. You dropped the NASG membership but remain in the NMRA. Why? Aren't they both unacceptable to you? At $20.00 the NASG is a bargain compared to almost ANY other dues paying organization. I don't know if we have met, or if you have been to any NASG only conventions. For some reason I am banned from the welcoming committee but you should go to the conventions. They are the Crown Jewel of the year for me. With Gregg Miller at the throttle Altoona looks like it will be another winner. It is also on my birthday AGAIN. As Jamie was so quick to point out, the NASG will gladly accept any volunteer hours you want to give to make the NASG better for YOU and the membership. I say that 3% of the members do 98% of the work in volunteer organizations. I have run for Eastern Vice President once. I like Doug Peck too but did EVERYONE have to vote for him? (:->) I have not run for office since as I cannot take many ego crushing defeats. But I also have no complaints with the good folks running the NASG either. And finally: KA-bin Kar - the car that serves as the sleeping and eating quarters for the crew of the BEST railroad ever.
