On the contrary, I think any layout built to P:64 standards, no matter how big or small it may be, would be a "major" thing. And as someone else has already stated, P:64 turnout jigs can be ordered through Fast-Tracks, so that won't be a major hurdle to jump (even if I hadn't already planned to try to build my own (for the sheer pleasure of it)).
As for the issue of finding drivers for steam engines... heck, I can't even find steam ENGINES that suit my needs, nevermind the wheels. But I'm going to try, regardless of the foreseen (and unforeseen) problems. I don't plan on it being a huge layout, so maybe it won't be too bad.
