Speaking for myself, at least... and I'm quite sure a multitude more...
turnouts being equipped with a switch motor is in no way whatsoever a
requirement or even something that I want at all.  Most, if not all
"quality" turnouts in HO scale do NOT come with switch motors (no, I do not
consider Atlas' "Snap-Track" to be a "quality" item)  I'm referring mainly
to Shinohara, BK, and a few others.  Those "scale modelers" who do use Atlas
turnouts (and turnouts of similar grade) typically throw away the remote
motors... or simply buy the ones that don't come with the motors.  So I
seriously doubt that this has anything to do with it... at least it doesn't
for me.

But regardless... Dick's comment supports my long-held view that higher
quality items NEED to be made availible in S... whether it be to get more S
enthusiasts to go with "scale" models or simply to draw modelers from other
scales into S.

Coming full-circle...
