The question of balance between heavy enough to avoid sagging, vs too
heavy for easy transport is critical. What size of materials are you
using that are heavier than needed? What smaller size do you think
would work? I have seen thin (1/4") plywood decks sag, I have seen
foam decks sag, so I'm very cautious about going too thin. I think
that 1/2" plywood avoids sagging, but it is heavier than I want. What
about the perimeter "vertical" framing? 1x4 and 1x6 both seem
acceptable in my observation.
